About YFU

YFU (Youth stand for Understanding) is the largest international student exchange organization.

YFU international public organization was founded in 1951 by the American millionairess and the public figure Rachel Anderson. The first exchange program aimed to the restoration of the relations between the countries the U.S. and Germany that were hostile during World War II.

Since that time more than 50 countries have become a member of the organization. Since 1994, YFU is a member of the Council for the Education Exchange in Europe; since 1996, YFU has been declared “The best organization” in the field of international exchange of young people, as the according to the results of the year by the UNESCO.

YFU program is supported by the governments of all participant countries. Each country is represented by its local organization, and other member organizations, serves as an equal partner. YFU international organization includes countries such as Germany, Switzerland, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, USA and etc.
